About LIFT2

Computational linguistics provides linguists with a wide range of techniques and resources that open up new possibilities for linguistic analysis—whether for collecting and annotating data or for extracting and verifying linguistic generalisations. The aim of the thematic network LIFT (Computational, Formal and Field Linguistics) 2 is:

  • to explore this potential by making use of a scientific network that encourages interaction between linguists, field linguists, and computational linguists; and

  • to promote the emergence of new methods that benefit linguists (through automation of analysis and validation processes), field linguists (by facilitating data collection and analysis), and computational linguists (through the development of new techniques required for linguistic analysis, and the advancement of unsupervised or weakly supervised methods for the analysis of under-resourced, minimally written, or undocumented languages).

Journées LIFT will take place in the Halles aux farines (room 247E and 237C), on the campus des Grands moulins of Université Paris Cité.
